Suriname has nearly 15 million hectares of forest, of which about 4 million ha of economically and ecologically sustainable timber production is perfect. In 2006, Suriname exported timber worth 1.8 million U.S. dollars. Main destination is Asia, followed by Europe, North and Latin America and the CARICOM countries.
